First time we ate pizza, that was awesome, like in Italy. Second time Salmon farfalle, grilled chicken with mushroom sauce, and spagetti bolognese. Everything was perfect. Nice panorama to Playa de Mogan
Overview
Tucked along the waterfront at C. Alcalde Miguel Marrero, 17, 15, Puerto de Mogán, 35139 Lomo Quiebre, Las Palmas, Spain, La Cicala feels like the kind of place you stumble upon once and then keep returning to every time you’re on the island. I first visited on a warm evening after a long walk around the marina, drawn in by the scent of garlic, fresh seafood, and the low hum of conversation drifting out toward the promenade. The setting alone-colorful boats bobbing nearby and the Atlantic breeze cutting through the heat-sets the mood before you even glance at the menu.
From experience, restaurants in tourist-heavy areas can sometimes lean on location more than quality. However, here the kitchen clearly takes pride in what it serves. I ordered grilled octopus with Canarian potatoes, a dish that many local chefs consider a benchmark of seafood expertise. According to data from Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, seafood consumption in the Canary Islands is significantly above the national average, which means competition is fierce and standards are high. The octopus arrived tender, lightly charred, and dressed with olive oil that tasted genuinely fruity and fresh. That balance of texture and flavor doesn’t happen by accident; it’s the result of precise timing and proper heat control on the grill.
The menu leans heavily into Mediterranean and Italian influences-think homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas, and daily fish specials-while still respecting local Canarian ingredients. On another visit, I tried their seafood linguine. The pasta was cooked al dente, which in professional culinary terms means firm to the bite. It may sound simple, but achieving that perfect texture requires strict control of boiling time and salt concentration in the water. The sauce, rich with clams and prawns, carried a depth that suggested slow simmering rather than a rushed service. You can taste when a kitchen takes shortcuts; here, they clearly don’t.
What stands out in many reviews, both from locals and international visitors, is the consistency. Online ratings frequently mention friendly service and generous portions. During my last meal, I watched the staff handle a fully booked terrace with calm efficiency. Orders were explained clearly, wine recommendations were thoughtful, and dishes arrived without long delays. In hospitality, that level of coordination usually reflects strong management and training processes behind the scenes.
The wine list deserves a special mention. Spain is home to more vineyard area than any other country in the world, according to the International Organisation of Vine and Wine. At La Cicala, the selection includes Spanish reds and crisp whites that pair beautifully with seafood. I was guided toward a chilled Verdejo, which cut through the richness of the pasta perfectly. It’s a small detail, yet it shows genuine knowledge of food and wine pairing rather than random suggestions.
Location also plays a major role in the overall experience. Puerto de Mogán is often called “Little Venice” because of its canals and charming bridges. Dining here means you’re not just eating; you’re soaking in one of Gran Canaria’s most picturesque coastal spots. Still, while the views are impressive, it’s the kitchen that earns repeat visits. Fresh ingredients, attentive cooking methods, and a well-curated menu give the place credibility beyond its postcard setting.
Of course, no restaurant is flawless. During peak tourist season, securing a table without a reservation can be challenging. Wait times may stretch slightly when the terrace fills up. That said, the staff are transparent about timing, which builds trust. Accurate information and clear communication matter, especially for travelers planning an evening out.
All things considered, La Cicala offers more than just a meal; it delivers a dining experience shaped by skilled preparation, quality ingredients, and a genuine understanding of what guests expect from a seaside restaurant in Las Palmas. Whether you’re exploring Gran Canaria for the first time or returning for another sun-soaked holiday, this waterfront gem stands out among the many dining locations lining Puerto de Mogán’s harbor.

18/6/2025 Perfect pizzas, great salads and amazing wine and as for the apple strudel and ice cream you just have to try it!!! 22/6/2025 Great salads again, perfect Brusceta, excellent mushroom risotto, then the lightest tastiest Tiramusu and a perfect red fruit cheesecake.
Lovely food and drinks. And hands down probably the best mojito we’ve had so far. The staff is friendly, fun and made the whole experience memorable. We even made a trip back from Maspalomas just to eat there again.
This was a superb find- the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. The staff went over and above with our food requests and found us a front row table to watch the sunset over the beach. It is a great spot for people watching and the menu is so varied, we found something for everyone. The sea bass was fresh and beautifully cooked, pizza was excellent and the salad fresh. The manager was even handing out rugs for your knees in case you needed it after the sun went down - a super and thoughtful touch. We look forward to returning again, thank you.
The best restaurant in Mogan. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. And they make the best pizzas and Charcuterie on the whole island. A hidden gem
Lovely little place to have a nice evening meal. Prices very reasonable. Staff very welcoming. We stopped here one night just to grab a drink, having eaten here before. Very welcoming found us a lovely table on the front great views. The food is lovely too. Pizza and lasagna both fantastic.
Had dinner one night antipasti to share, two pizzas water and one glass wine €60 total and everything was excellent. Came back another day for lunch and shared the antipasti again as it was so good with fresh bread and olive oil. Prices reasonable , very attentive. Will return.
